BLOOMING OUT is a funny and clever non-verbal language physical theatre show that explores the feminine universe in a daring and comic way.

about the production

BLOOMING OUT is a physical theatre show, interpreted by two Brazilian actresses, that explores in a light and comic way the most intriguing moments of the feminine universe. The fascination of beauty, girly plays, the first time putting on make-up, the body’s development including its feminine parts, arrival of the period, the first kiss, oppression and fear, maternity, love, demands and social taboos, work, happiness and growing old; these are some of the many fascinating and scary themes that build the story of this plot. BLOOMING OUT uses only non-verbal language, creating touching scenes of great power and beauty.

about the artist

NOS Three is a collective of three Brazilian artists that have decided to collaborate creating new authentic work. Our interests and goals are all focused on the research of the playful, comic and black comedic. The core technique used is clowning to subvert the logic and redefine the day-by-day routine. Our projects mainly involve original shows devised by the group, but it also includes interpretations of great classical works.

This performance can be done without lighting in venues with limited technical capacity. However, it is ideal to have a room that is able to be as dark as possible, when all lights are off. We can also bring our own P.A system but would require a plug socket for the speaker and laptop, from which we operate the sound cues. For conventional theatre spaces a full tech rider will be presented in advance of the tour date.

Please let us know if your space is smaller than our stated measurements as we may be able to adapt to fit.

People who go to contemporary theatre

"You sometimes need to see something done very well to appreciate that your palette has been spoiled by inferior articles. The two clowns, Maria Rocha and Bianca Bertalot, made a delightfully violent and squabbling double act, displaying expert comedic precision and clever use of props throughout."

The Swindonian

"Both clowns were a hit with the audience, livening up the auditorium with their comical facial expressions and shenanigans. The duo isn’t afraid to get up-close and personal with each other, and they don’t shy away from interacting with the audience – your drinks and nibbles may even become part of the performance! There is a particularly lovely scene where the actresses sang in their native language, a really nice touch. No matter what gender you are, Blooming Out provides an insight into the feminine world that can be widely appreciated – and there’s never a dull moment."

Theatre Bath

"The comedy was really good, very energetic and lively (and this is coming from someone who is not a big fan of clowning, so well done!) but at the same time didn’t make the more serious moments seem out of place. This show gets a recommendation because it has it all; comedy, music and dramatic moments, all of which flows together in a seamless performance."

TheatreFest Barnstaple Fringe

The show is inclusive using non verbal communication, therefore anyone with hearing impairment will gain from it.
The two performers have extensive work experience with adults and children with learning disabilities, enabling on stage adaptation to suit the audiences needs.
