Borders... Surveillance... Separation
about the production
A play about the physical, social and political walls we live within, In the Shadow of Walls is a new play written by Fourth Monkey Ensemble Artistic Director, Steven Green. It takes a contemporary look at what walls, both physical and metaphorical, do to people. How do people live, adapt, thrive, cope? Regimes and ideologies change, but people repeat the same behaviour. From the psychological torture of the Stasi in the 1960s to the online intimidation of 'the other' in modern Britain. From hidden microphones to intrusive, yet normalised modern listening devices.
