Journey to the Impossible

by Little Soldier Productions

children-and-family, theatre

Stranger Things meets The Goonies meets the novels of Jules Verne; an unashamedly retro adventure for all the family

about the production

Three kids are in trouble. Well, what do you expect if you open a portal to a parallel dimension? By way of Dip Daps, walkie talkies and magical bandanas they are taken through the Improbable, the Intriguing and the Unethical, on a mission to save the mysterious city of Vernopolis. Inspired by The Goonies, Stranger Things and Jules Verne, Journey to the Impossible is a rambunctious coming-of-age adventure. It’s full of feel-good humour, synth soundscapes, catchy comedic songs and 80s retro sci-fi nostalgia. Commissioned by the Bike Shed Theatre, Exeter, and supported by ACE, Activate Performing Arts and Pound Arts.

about the artist

Founded in 2010 by award-winning performers Patricia Rodriguez & Mercè Ribot, we use physical theatre and improvisation to create unexpected, engaging, anarchic shows that are emotionally rich and slyly humorous. We are mentored by acclaimed clown practitioner Aitor Basauri (Spymonkey). Our work has toured across the UK and internationally (US, Mexico, Spain, Poland.) Our previous critically acclaimed productions include DERAILED, commissioned by HOME Manchester and supported by BAC, THE INGENIOUS GENTLEMAN DON QUIXOTE OF LA MANCHA, co-produced by Jacksons Lane Theatre (The Stage Award 2014) and YOU AND ME (Argus Angel Award 2012).

Performances can be followed by a short post-show discussion, included in the touring fee.
Drama and devising packages are also available at additional cost, teaching practical creative skills and developing emotional literacy around the themes of transitions, taking risks and accepting responsibilities.
Workshops are run by our experienced facilitators and tailored to the needs of each school or youth group. Costs are negotiable.
