A Thing Mislaid

by Maison Foo

theatre

Traveling through miniature worlds and surreal realities, A Thing Mislaid explores themes of migration, journey & home.

about the production

A Thing Mislaid is a show about two lost clowns, who meet somewhere on the way to nowhere; and a thing mislaid, a thing without a flock, a thing on a journey to find home. Maison Foo blend puppetry, objects and live camera with clowning and humour to tell their latest tale.

about the artist

Maison Foo is the creative collaborative journey of Co Artistic Directors Kathryn Lowe and Bethany Sheldon. Maison Foo exist to create mischievous new theatre that challenges audiences and tickles their imagination. Drawing on influences from puppetry, clowning and physical theatre we combine strong narratives with visual storytelling - creating absurd pieces rooted in social conscience. Maison Foo are an Associate Company of Derby Theatre

We have made this show for a wide range of Foo followers... for grown ups, parents, grandparents and their children.
We have made this show to be enjoyed and then we hope discussed after in the cafe, bar, car or around the family dinner table. We recommend young people come with an adult. We would say it’s unsuitable for young people under 8 years but anyone older than that is very welcome.

“My surprise hit of the (Edinburgh) Festival… touching and beautifully crafted…a little show with a big heart”

Lyn Gardner on 'Memoirs of a Biscuit Tin'

“Funny yet very current, topical/poignant issues covered – cannot wait to see the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle came together to formal finished piece”

Audience Feedback at First Bite WIP sharing

"Inventive, clever, masterful devised theatre … A company that have the ability to beautifully weave narratives with great visual performance."

Paul Russ, Chief Executive / Artistic Director Dance 4 on Maison Foo

We will work with venues to offer BSL, captioning, audio description and touch tours. We are very open to discuss ways in which we can make A Thing Mislaid accessible to as many people as possible.

For A Thing Mislaid we would like to work with venues and any refugee advice or support centres local to them to begin building links between audiences and local refugee groups. Please contact associate producer Phoebe on phoebe@maisonfoo.co.uk if you would like to chat more, and we can tell you about our plans!
