Super Hamlet 64: Parody DLC

by Edward Day

physical-theatre-and-circus, comedy

An explosive hour of Shakespeare and videogame geekery.

about the production

Challenging ideas of privilege, gender, and our relationship with technology, Super Hamlet 64 is a one person homage to the art of the videogames and the beauty of Shakespeare's verse, packed full of physical comedy, live music and animation. Struggling to come to terms with the death of his dad, Mario, Hamlet’s world has been flipped upside down. If only he could level up and kill his uncle Luigi everything would be alright but real life doesn’t end like in videogames. Tour 1: February 25th - April 15th 2018 Tour 2: June 28th - October 30th 2018

about the artist

A genderfluid actor, composer and animator, expert at physical theatre and clowning, Edward has been performing for over 10 years, specialising in Shakespeare and physical theatre. Roles have included Queen Elizabeth, Hamlet, Prospero, Bottom, Malvolio and even King Lear. Trained at ALRA and the Ecole Jacques Lecoq he made his first self produced show In The Surface Of A Bubble in 2014 about a girl struggling to come to terms with a transgender parent, mixing Mask, Puppetry, Mime, Martial Arts and Music. He’s currently also developing Too Pretty To Punch, a comedy cabaret about transphobia and society’s ridiculous beauty standards.

"Day never ceased to impress…like a man possessed at times, effortlessly switching between characters…for me, the best original play I have seen."

Theatre Bath - Rauri Quinn

“Gamers love the gaming jokes, Shakespeare lovers adore the Shakespeare jokes, and non gamers enjoy the mix of video projection, physical comedy and spoken word.”
