The Girl Who Touched the Stars

by Cardboard Castles

theatre, children-and-family

“But what if we forget things? Like her voice and smile.” “We won’t, it’s all in our memories...”

about the production

Booking for schools, youth centres and community groups in the Lincolnshire area: April and Ella’s entire world is changing and there is nothing they can do to stop it. To escape the realities of life, the two sisters use their imagination to create some new friends, together they travel across lands having adventures and learning that no-one is every really gone as long as you have your memories. Delivered in a child friendly manner, The Girl Who Touched the Stars is performed in an on stage tent and follows one family, showing how people cope with bereavement in different ways.

about the artist

Lincoln-based, Cardboard Castles is a new, emerging organisation formed of young, local and highly-experienced artists with a common interest in children's theatre. Under the direction of Shannon-Mae Toyne and Maria Sands, the organisation exists to create and perform high-quality touring theatre for young people in Lincoln and the local area. Cardboard Castles' debut show 'The Girl Who Touched the Stars' will tour Lincoln schools, youth centres and community groups in Summer 2016 prior to a Edinburgh Fringe run that August.

We suggest audiences of 7-11 year olds for The Girl Who Touched the Stars due to the somewhat emotional nature of the production. The show is incredibly visual and is designed to be suitable for children, however, it is at the discretion of the community group staff and/or parents whether they deem the production suitable for the children in younger year groups. Due to the production being performed in a tent, there is a limit of 32 audience members per performance.

‘A beautiful show, truly innovative and uniquely brilliant. The songs and story will stay in my mind for years to come. Absolutely fantastic.’

Lucy Camsell - Audience Member

'An incredibly immersive experience. The atmosphere of the show was charming, and the energy of the performers really made this a memorable show. I can't wait to see more of this!'

Gareth Hughes - Audience Member

'An inspiring and thought-provoking performance that stirred a variety of heart-warming emotions. A strong chemistry between the actors brought the story to life and encouraged a deeper interest in this incredible organisation.'

Sarah-Louise Bertie - Audience Member

The production is performed in a tent, despite this, cast and audience members within it during the performance have full access to exits at all times. The tent has numerous exits should an emergency occur and is fully accessible to audience members with access requirements.
