November Theatre launches in the UK with Isabella Waldron’s Popcorn Award longlisted electric new play, bringing a fresh perspective on queer love, age-gap relationships, and ocularistry. Bea's older neighbour was her first love, her first cigarette, her first prosthetic eye. When Bea is invited to the Wellcome Collection to speak about her expertise making glass eyes, she finds herself unable to untie Margot from all that she does. As she tries to unpack her mentor's effect on her work, Bea must dissect for herself what love really looks like. Can gout and wax be sexy?

November Theatre is a transatlantic, new writing theatre company creating digitally and in person. Female and trans-led, we launched NT in NYC in 2019 to work with new and established creators in the UK and USA on fresh projects, supporting from early stage development through to production. NT has staged a sold out production of Miriam Battye’s Pancake Day at The Tank NYC, a workshop of Andy Jo’s Hananim at Mabou Mines (NYC), and an online digital series during COVID-19. After a sold out preview run at Pleasance (London) we premiered Wax Figure at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2022.

Minimal. This show is very flexible to a variety of spaces and only needs simple PA and lighting systems as appropriate to your venue. Tour pack is available on request.

Our key audiences include:
• New Writing audiences, appealing to those who are interested / excited in new work.
• LGBTQIA+ audiences and allies, who will identify with the lived experiences and relationships established between the three characters.
• Due to some mature content in the show the play is suitable for audiences of 12+.
Prepare for your heart to melt. Bailey’s production keeps its eyes on the prize of beautifully nuanced performances. It builds on deft flecks of character: alongside Franziska’s keen-eyed observer and Dowd’s assured, laconic artist, Barlow is a delight as bumbling Bea, feelingly moving between wide-eyed adolescence and more self-aware, if klutzy, adulthood. Waldron’s writing is refreshingly calm about queer identity and desire, and it’s a mature and tender piece. The eye's have it.

Put simply, How to Build a Wax Figure is a tale of romantic anguish. Expect romantic tension in spades, a stellar cast of women, and a queer tale of complexity and captivation.
We have previously run relaxed performances of this production, as well as captioned performances and would like to continue offering these on the road.
Overall the production has been made with accessibility in consideration, and was to make it more accessible as required are easily done. We have one scene with flashing lights that can be adjusted as needed but is the biggest access concern.
This is negotiable per venue, so please do open a discussion. However, we'd ideally be looking for Box Office Splits of 70/30.
