Getting Out of Fairyland

by Sabrina George

comedy, spoken-word-and-live-literature

An exploration of the experience of debt and those prone to it, with humorous character sketches, candid personal experiences and advice.

about the production

Sabrina George, comedian behind the celebrated Fringe shows Crime, Comedy & Me, lived a globetrotting life of bad decisions and serial debt, until a chance encounter with a straight-talking wise woman opened her eyes to the fairytale she had been telling herself. As a debt advisor, she came into contact with a wide range of characters, with common threads running through their stories, and identified the archetypal fantasies they were all telling themselves. She helped them escape Fairyland, and now she’s coming to help you too.

about the artist

Sabrina George presented her show Crime, Comedy and Me at the 2005 Edinburgh Festival following the success of Postmodernism, Comedy and Me which featured at both The Melbourne and Edinburgh Comedy Festivals in 2004. As a sought-after compere, George regularly appears at The Comedy Store, Jongleurs, Comedy Café and clubs across the UK and beyond. Her seductive stand-up has been spotted in Canada, Germany, Australia and America.

“Impossibly likeable: a warm, nonchalant conversationalist clearly at home with an audience”

Kit Macdonald, Metro

“Sabrina George has a warm stage delivery pitched somewhere between Natalie Haynes and Jo Brand. She’s had all the right experiences and possesses a rich fund of anecdotes.”

Jay Richardson, The Scotsman
