Rum in the Gravy Boat

by Fluid Motion

theatre

You're ten years old, dads left and mum's an alcoholic. You find salvation in performing. You can do a wicked Greased Lightening.

about the production

Playful and energetic yet moving and raw, Rum in the Gravy Boat is a story about sexual awakenings, plastic microphones, an alcoholic mother and alopecia. Based on the actor’s own life and developed through Fluid Motion’s unique autobiographical style, this is a personal account into how theatre can make sense of the past.

about the artist

Fluid Motion is a mental health theatre company based in Basingstoke. We create performances on a wide range of mental health themes as well as delivering education and community work. We make theatre that puts human experience front and centre. Using our distinctive autobiographical style our performances are playful, energetic and thought provoking. Our aim is to create theatre that gets people talking about mental health. Fluid Motion's productions are devised by the company and collaborators, where possible work with other new and emerging artists who are creating work around mental health themes.
