Hamlet has the questions...do YOU have the answers?

about the production

After breaking new ground with their award-winning Richard III (A One Woman Show), Brite Theater are once again reinventing Shakespearean performance with this new production of Hamlet directed by Kolbrun Bjort Sigfusdottir. Emily Carding plays Hamlet and you, the audience, are the players arriving at Elsinore. Hamlet needs your help to take on the roles of his friends and family and resolve the great questions of life. Journey through the play together and become immersed in the story like never before. Hamlet has the questions. Do you have the answers?

The show has minimal requirements other than flexible seating (in the case of raked or fixed seating it will work best if there can be a few loose seats brought onto the stage for participating audience) and shared universal lighting. There are no lighting cues and no sound requirements.

Anyone who is interested in experiencing Shakespeare's work from the inside, especially useful for those studying it but has been enjoyed by audiences of all ages and levels of experience...the only crtieria is they must be open to something a bit different as it's very involved.

Emily Carding continues to amaze, pushing the boundaries with Shakespeare...The text resonated in ways I had never considered ...this is a fascinating entertainment. Come and join the production! You will be glad you did.

One of the most telling signs of a performer’s control over their material is how well they deal with the unexpected. In the case of audience participation, that means, on the one hand, involving reluctant members of the audience and, on the other hand, usually even worse, reining in the over-enthusiastic. Having fully mastered a kind of interactive Shakespeare with Richard III at the 2016 edition of the Prague Fringe, Emily Carding makes a triumphant return in a black hoody, this time portraying the Danish prince, whose five-act travails she has stripped to its bare essentials...Carding is fearless, her grasp

Fringe Review

The show itself was incredible, members of the audience are assigned the largest roles of the play: Horatio, Ophelia, Laertes, Claudius, Gertrude and Polonius. They are given scripts which they are asked to keep secret with instructions as to their actions. Hamlet speaks mostly in monologues with short interactions with the characters. Hamlet seems perfect for such a show due to the strength of Shakespeare’s monologues. The performance is powerful and the audience’s performances keep it light and slightly silly, which I think is perfect to contrast the heavy themes of Hamlet and keeps the show very accessible.
