Crimes Under the Sun

by New Old Friends

theatre, comedy

Fun in the sun with this Christie-inspired comedy thriller which delighted mid-scale audiences on its first national tour in Spring 2018.

about the production

An hilarious comedy thriller, directed by James Farrell (39 Steps West End, RSC), now taking bookings for Autumn 2019. Inspired by Agatha Christie, Noël Coward, and classic murder mystery thrillers, played in the company’s trademark style of inventive staging, witty wordplay with four actors taking on multiple outrageous characters. A femme-fatale is felled on an island hotel - can Belgian detective, Artemis Arinae, deduce which of the suspicious guests is the killer before the bodies pile up? The production played to a remarkable 74% average attendance across 64 performances during its Spring 2018 tour.

Note:
The show was built at Theatre Royal Bath’s Ustinov (118 seats), but has scaled up to play 500+ seat venues comfortably.

We have found our audience to be a mix of traditional theatre goers, Christie fans, murder mystery fans and then a sprinkle of fans of work like Mischief Theatre, Spymonkey and The 39 Steps etc.

A common piece of feedback from venues on the first tour was how refreshing it was to see a new audience mixing with the established one at the shows.
