theatre, music-and-opera
A powerful and deeply moving Medea, staged amidst an electrifying live gig. Pecho Mama present a bold and genre defying debut.
about the production
A powerful and deeply moving retelling of the Greek tragedy, set in 1980’s rural England. Staged amidst an electrifying live gig, this is a heart stopping story of a family caught in the brutal throes of a marriage unravelling. Brand new company Pecho Mama exploded onto the theatre scene earlier this year with this bold, imaginative and genre defying debut.
about the artist
Pecho Mama was born in 2016, with the aim of creating work that tramples the boundaries between live music and theatre. The name Pecho Mama pays homage to the words of Clarissa Pinkola Estes. "Hombre con pechos. These human beings could be called little wild mothers, the ones who reattach you to the wildest instincts, rejoicing when they see you coming back with the fiery skull held out before you". Medea Electronica is the company's first work, and by tirelessly goading each other (as little wild mothers do), we strive to create work that is raw, savage, beautiful and challenging.
