Oskar's Amazing Adventure

by Fideri Fidera

theatre, children-and-family

An entertaining, action-packed drama for young children and their families, full of good humour, excitement, adventure, and music & song

about the production

Many children’s plays are adaptations of well-known children’s books or based on fairy stories, but ours is an original story that uses a rich mix of storytelling, physical comedy, puppetry, music and song to tell the tale of a puppy’s search for friendship in the wilderness of the Alps. Oskar's Amazing Adventure engages the children and grown ups from the very moment it starts until the moment it ends with the children being invited to come forward to meet the performer and play with the animal characters – please see our video trailer to see how we do this.

about the artist

Fidera Fideri is an artist-led Anglo-Swiss children's theatre company based in Brighton. We are dedicated to creating new, original plays that offer engaging and entertaining shared experiences for kids and their grown-ups. When we create a new play, we make sure it will work just as well in a village hall as in a large theatre. Our plays Pitschi the Kitten with Dreams, Oskar’s Amazing Adventure, Ugg ’n’ Ogg and the World’s First Dogg and our most recent show, Will Tell and the Big Bad Baron have had over 300 performances in the UK and Ireland.

Get in 60 minutes, Get out 45 minutes.
Theatre spaces: We require a technician for the get in.
Rural touring spaces: A raised stage not required. We tour with our own sound equipment. No special lighting required. We prefer to stage the play on the floor, with the children sitting in front and adults seated behind. Seating in rows is also fine.

Oskar’s Amazing Adventure is aimed at children between 2 and 8, but there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy and we aim to provide a positive, shared experience for adults and children alike.

'Combining brilliant storytelling, beautiful handmade stuffed animals and plenty of songs and actions for us all to join in with, this is a charming and thoughtful piece of theatre for younger children.  Furry friends, foxes and fun for all the family, this delightful show is a real treat for everyone'

'Actor Natasha Granger enchants the audience as the storyteller, using song, puppetry, music, and physical comedy to brilliantly tell Oskar’s tale. Her energy is boundless and captivates even the youngest of children. The handmade sets and puppets have an Etsy-like appeal which perfectly suits the fairy tale vibe of the show.'

'Outstanding. This was my own preschooler’s first ever live show and I am so massively grateful to Theatre Fideri Fidera for making it such a positive and memorable experience for us both. For pre-schoolers first noticing the big wide world (and for those of us privileged to attend them on their journey) the perspective offered is just right. The highest praise I can think of is to jump up and down in my seat squealing “Again! Again!'
