by Bikes & Rabbits

"These Books" is a contemporary circus show using live music and bespoke circus props to create a dark and surrealist piece.

about the production

In the ramshackle library of a psychiatric hospital, books are falling, hiding things, wedging the furniture, conterweighting… They are used for everything but read. On an entangled stack of ladders of uncertain stability takes place the madcap relationships of three maniacs. In the constant tension of imbalance, the characters are perched on rickety ladders that crack and dislocate. It shouldn't work, but it does. In this surreal show with absurd humour, a dangerous bipolar persist in knocking down an addicted woman and an obssessive musician.
