about the production
Inspired by One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Macondo is a brand new unique show that combines instruction based theatre, binaural sound and video. It tells the story of the making of a village that appears for fifty minutes only in an empty theatre and takes the shape of the people that inhabit it. Choosing between Beginners, Intermediate and Heroes the participants decide the level of involvement they want to have in the show and abandon themselves to a predetermined script.
about the artist
Silvia Mercurali has been working in theatre since 1998, creating events, site-specific installations, experimental theatre shows and immersive performances. Much of her work focuses on the role of the audience in relation to their environment and to each other. Silvia has presented her shows across the UK and Worldwide including Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Greece, Holland, Japan, the USA among many others.

Suitbale for everyone aged 8 upwards.
Performance requires either participation at 'Hero' level or at 'Beginner' level where you remain seated throughout and the audience chooses this to start with.It is therefore suitable for disabled people who use wheelchairs but is not suitbale for deaf people as instructions are given vie headphones.
Auto teatro workshops for students available at extra cost of £200 for a 3 hour workshop by one leader.
Macondo costs £1,200 for one day (up to 2 shows) or £3,200 for a 6 show week. All inclusive, no vat applicable.
