A witty and inspiring musical adaptation of Saint-Exupéry’s bestselling classic 'The Little Prince'.

about the production

2018 will be the 75th anniversary of the first edition of one of the top-three selling novels of all time, translated into more than 300 languages. The Amateurs will be celebrating this occasion staging this modern adaptation that presents a magical insight into the story, addressing its many layers of thought and emotion in a contemporary, subtle and poetic show.

about the artist

The Amateurs is a Spanish, London-based company that emerged from a need to participate in a different way in the process of artistic creation. A need to always search for work of the best quality and purest honesty, committed to the exploration of the performance phenomena, and committed to providing insight into the condition of the individual in our contemporary society. 'A Little Prince' premiered at the Brighton Fringe Festival 2016. The production was nominated for a Brighton Fringe Award as Best Family Show, and our 10-year old lead actor got an award for Best Young Actor.

stage dimensions

width: 10 metres

height: 8 metres

depth: 10 metres

The show is originally designed to run outdoors, ideally in a green area (the bigger the better). However, we are happy to devise an exciting new stage design to make the best of each performing space. The Audience may sit around or within the stage area, if this is large enough. It can also be adapted to indoor facilities when required.

A PA is required, as the show runs with live music, and actors need amplification when singing.

No lighting is needed for matinee performances. Evening performances require minimum lighting (not included in initial budget).

This is essentially a show which is suitable for kids and adults alike. Recommended for ages 6-99.

Not only is this show charmingly entertaining, it is a truly touching experience.

Brighton & Hove Independent

An outstanding, funny and insightful piece.

Arts Award

9-year old Ronan Powell may be the best young actor I have ever seen onstage.

Audience Review

This show can be seen as a 'story-telling' script with live music, thus suitable for the visually impaired.

In celebrating the 75th anniversary of the first edition of 'The Little Prince', we want to invite experienced local choirs to take part of our show, joining in the closing theme which consists of a 'requiem' scored for four parts. The sheet music will be sent ahead in time for the choir to rehearse. Final instructions and a technical rehearsal will allow the choir to learn their positions and actions to help us deliver a magical grand finale.

Workshops and activities for children and adults are also available on request to discuss and develop the topics in the story.

Our fee for one performance is £900 (without live music).
The fee for two or more performances is £700 per performance (without live music).
To have live music, add 150 per show (piano/keyboard rental not included).

This includes transport, but not accommodation for the artists when this is required.
