Outdoor promenade performance using classical Indian dance to depict the ascension of the fifth sphere of Dante’s circles of heaven
about the production
Experience Ascension – an outdoor Indian dance performance, inspired by Dante’s ascension to heaven as described in Paradiso, the third part of Dante's poem Divine Comedy, while drawing on Hindu astrology and the nine planets of Navagraha. Audiences are guided through the site on a journey to the heavens as dancers. Each performance is fully site responsive, the choreography is tailored to its surroundings creating a distinct unique experience at each location. Choreographed by Manuela Benini, Ascension features a cast of three dance artists, with classical western and middle eastern music composition by Ash Madni.
