A battle-ground and bloodshed between brothers. A double fratricide. A proclamation that one brother should remain unburied. Left to decay on the fields for carrion to ravage. A loyal sister, Antigone, defiant of the State, buries him. An uncle, Creon, determined to uphold the Law and punish those who disobey at whatever cost. Family loyalties and personal politics collide in this most passionate and timeless of ancient Greek tragedies. Needless to say it gets bloody.
about the artist
'making magic from myth' - aod are a National and International touring theatre company committed to performing ancient Greek plays in modern adaptation and developing new projects inspired by myth. Our work often incorporates a highly physical/aerial dimension. We have an established education programme of workshops, pre performance lectures and post performance talks as well as essay books, journals, DVDS and audio-CDS.

Antigone is a set text on both the AQA and OCR AS and A-level GCE syllabus as well as appearing on the GCSE Classical Studies syllabus.
