An award winning promenade play about loneliness in the modern world.

about the production

I’m standing next to you is an award winning promenade play that invites audiences to become part of a lonely crowd. We imagine what would happen if strangers suddenly decided to talk to each other honestly about their lives, rather than the edited version we all think people want to see. Sometimes funny, sometimes sad, our strangers will talk about internet dating, new motherhood and the struggle to find your place in the world. *The production as been selected to be part of the PUSH 2017 festival at HOME Manchester.***

about the artist

We are an award-winning theatre company from Manchester that writes and devises our own work. Our productions have been seen at the Lowry, HOME, Whitworth Art Gallery, Bluecoat theatre, Roundabout theatre, Old fire station and the CLF Art Café.

The production is designed to play in studio spaces and non traditional theatre spaces. A video projector would be beneficial but the production can be modified to suit a venue's technical requirements and size.

The production would be suitable for anyone over the age of 16.

This is the type of show which makes you want to grab people off the street to see.

I heart Manchester

The incredible strength here is the writing. The premise sounds grim, but the script is littered with humour, and more than that it rings so true. Added to that three strong, committed performances; the three characters create an uncanny portrait of that most awful isolation that’s only found when you’re surrounded by people

Steven Ireland

It’s very well acted but it’s the quality of writing that really stands out…. there’s an effective balance of humour and desperation, of internal strength and the need for external recognition.

Quiet Man Dave

The production has a few seats around the periphery of the performance space for people who wish to sit. The production has been seen by audience members in wheelchairs. The production involves actors working in very close proximity to audience members.
