No Finer Life

by Dogwood Productions

theatre

The Archers’ Graham Harvey’s tale of a land army girl’s journey in search of a best selling author in the darkest days of war.

about the production

The production with new, live music, moves between the 1940s and the current day, and reflects that our relationship with the land and issues of national identity are timeless. Set in the Oxfordshire countryside rich in tradition and full of vivid, memorable characters, this is no nostalgic, bucolic ramble. This is Elizabeth’s story... “When peace is won, we fight for the land we love”… The show features music from Alastair Collingwood, who has written scores for numerous theatre shows, including Betty in London’s West End, directed by Kathy Burke and for TV including for French and Saunders.

about the artist

Dogwood is all about combining decades of experience with new writing and the brightest new talent to challenge, stimulate, but above all else, to entertain. The company is led by an award-winning director of both stage and radio drama, and a writer whose work includes TV, stage and more than 600 episodes of The Archers. Our shows are designed to be flexible so that they can comfortably work in smaller theatres and rural venues. Wherever possible we provide workshop activity that gives a practical insight into the show and the skills and experience we’d like to share with our audiences.

The production run with no interval, so this offers a “second-half”.

A Half-Day Writing Workshop with Graham Harvey and No Finer Life’s director and cast is also available. This will explore how storylines are created, including through collaboration; and how characters are developed, more generally.
Participants will work in teams and individually, write scripts and see and hear their labours performed.

Fees for both are negotiable.
