Wolf Meat

by The Corner Shop Events

theatre, physical-theatre-and-circus

Wolf Meat is an irreverent, wickedly funny take on the Red Riding Hood tale, by emerging physical comedy troupe Wildheart & Lyric.

about the production

This compelling new show, set in Grandma's Croydon drug den, brings slapstick, absurdist humour and live music to a world of dirty deals and mistaken identity. Directed by the internationally acclaimed Mick Barnfather, Wolf Meat has been a sell-out sensation in both Brighton and London. It achieved highest-grossing show status at the Marlborough Theatre as part of Brighton Fringe Festival 2015, and subsequently played to full houses at the Pleasance London. Join Grandma, Red, Wolfie and Luna for a raucous ride that subverts well-known characters and turns morals on their heads!

about the artist

The Wildhearts love to entertain! We seek to take audiences out of their comfort zone with our unique blend of macabre humour, theatrical anarchy and a healthy sense of the ridiculous. Founded in 2011 by a group of friends united by a focus on playful collaboration and a shared appetite for the zany, Wildheart & Lyric has since developed a unique style of performance-making. The company members have trained and worked together in the techniques of Clown, Bouffon and Commedia dell’arte, and built a reputation for physical comedy as well as fast-paced storytelling and genre-defying original music.

We require an unloading time of 30 minutes, a minimum get-in time of 2 hours, and a minimum get-out time of 1 hour. Our lighting plan is simple, with no strobes or specials, and we can provide our own operator. We would like the venue to provide us with two chairs and one small table if possible.

Wolf Meat is a bold, immediate show that will appeal to anyone with a passion for live performance, especially people who are eager to embrace raucous and unconventional theatre. It will be especially suitable for comedy fans who might not normally see traditional theatre. We also anticipate a sizeable student audience. Age guidance: 16+.

"Birdy is imaginative, authentic and absolutely impossible to fault...the most fun I’ve had at the theatre in a very long time."

WhatsOnStage

"Adventurous and very funny. Entertainment with a capital E." - Brighton Argus

Brighton Argus

"a trouser-ripping side-splitting romp through Grandma Croydon’s twisted world of sex and drugs…a thrilling roller-coaster of drama, horror and delight…Silly, playful, intoxicating, and strangely moving."

Total Theatre
