about the artist

The Ding Foundation creates high quality, original theatre using a cross range of art forms (puppetry, music, physical theatre), telling stories which are accessible to diverse, predominantly adult (12+) audiences. Our work is often devised and we are interested in creating unusual and striking visual narratives around socially relevant themes which explore the nature and absurdity of human existence. Our shows use minimal language and original music which enables us to connect to varied audiences and nationalities. The Ding Foundation is run by Hannah Marshall and Amelia Pimlott who collaborate with others to create vibrant visual theatre.

Ages 12- 112. Anyone and everyone who is interested in intriguing, unusual, and rewarding visual theatre, that is both bewitching and full of humour.

"...there’s no doubt that co-creators and performers Hannah Marshall and Amelia Pimlott create some astonishing images of death and rebirth here. And their use at the end of the full human figure, to symbolise a final moment of freedom from “Mother Earth” is intensely moving; as well as thought- provoking about where the rich world of puppet theatre is heading next"

Joyce MacMillan - The Scotsman

“(The Ding Foundation) are part of a growing strand of British theatre that recognises puppets can sometimes connect with audiences more directly than human performers”
